Dahlia
Dahlias, national flower of Mexico, are a summer favorite through out the US. Dahlias typically bloom late in the summer and continue through the fall in radiant, bright colors that cause us to obsess over them. They have been used for centuries to convey general messages such as kindness, grace, strength, creativity and goodness. The Bayard Cutting Arboretum in East Islip Long Island has a large garden of Dahlia that are maintained by the Long Island Dahlia Society.
